Visit with Claire

Katie Blair and I went to see Claire Grace last night. My sweet friend Laura emailed me on Wednesday saying that Claire had been talking about Katie and wanted to know if I would take Katie for a visit. Of course I said yes. I felt so honored to be able to do something, ANYTHING for Claire!! Before our visit, I was a little nervous about what Katie’s behavior would be while we were there. I really wanted her to interact with Claire and not destroy the McColloch’s house! I made Claire a copy of the picture of her with the kids from last Halloween and framed it to take to her. Katie also colored her a picture of Dora. When we arrived, Claire was in her hospital bed in the living room. Of course she had a bright pink blanket over her! :) She was awake and seemed glad to see Katie Blair. Katie was a little shy at first, but before we left she had played on Claire’s computer, conned Colleen (Claire’s Mom) into taking her upstairs and got Dan (Claire’s Dad) to sneak her several cookies! Claire and Colleen were nice enough to give Katie a little stuffed puppy with a bling collar and a pink dress on! Katie loved it and Claire thought she should name it “Fluffy”. So Fluffy it is! Katie had to sleep with Fluffy last night. Claire’s speech was often difficult to understand, but if you listened carefully you could see that her mind and spirit are still intact! She told us about her cousin’s new baby girl, and about how everyone in Celina was going to wear Pink instead of Orange to tonight’s football game in her honor! She was very pleased about that! She is hoping to be able to attend tonight’s game, but it will depend on how she is doing. Claire also told us about a show that she and her dad watch on Thursday nights, called the World’s Dumbest Criminals. She said there were 2 guys that robbed a Police station…how dumb is that!!?!?!? She is such a brave girl. What a fighter! She and her family have been through so much. And through it all have shown such strength. They are an inspiration. My thoughts and prayers are constantly with them.

Please remember to keep Claire and her family in your prayers. I don't know why God is allowing Claire to go through all of this. But I do know that God is good. He is still on His throne and He hears our prayers.

I will try to post pictures of Katie with Fluffy and pics from tonight’s game later on this weekend. Hope you all have a great weekend! Our love to you all!
