Palm Sunday/Easter
Palm Sunday was a beautiful sunny day. It was a little chilly, but we were thankful that it was sunny and not rainy. During our church service, all the kids proceeded through the sanctuary waving palms in rememberance of when Jesus came into Jerusalem on the donkey while the crowds waved palms and shouted Hosanna! Here is a picture of Kason and Katie right before they paraded into the church:
After the service, an egg hunt was held for the kids. Kason was moving too fast for me to get a picture. He was trying to find one of 5 golden prize eggs. Which he was disappointed that he didn't find. But I did manag to snap a couple of Katie, although she wouldn't stop long enough to actually look at the camera. :)
She was almost looking into the camera in this one:
My sweet friend Pam snapped this one of Katie and I:
The following week on Easter Sunday, Kason woke me up at 5am with "Mom, I just threw up!" Not really the way you want to wake up on Easter morning, or any morning for that matter. Katie had been sick a few days before so it wasn't a huge surprise. Not good timing, though. I figured he was contagious, so we didn't think he should go to church. Very disappointing for Easter Sunday. But what can you do?!?! It just so happened that Kason had gone with me on Friday to the Good Friday service (which, btw, is not an easy service for a little boy to sit through!) So, this time it was just Katie and I who went to church on Easter Sunday. She was so happy to dress up in her pretty dress. GD snapped this picture of us before we left for church. Katie was not happy that she had to stand still for this picture, as you can tell by her face.
She really wanted to spin around so her dress would balloon out. So here is that picture. :)
Church was beautiful. We took home our Easter lillies to take to Oma's house. By the time we got home from church, Kason was acting and feeling much better. (We suspect it could have been the prospect of an easter egg hunt and birthday presents that sped up his recovery!) We got to Oma's and had a great visit with Oma, Art, Poos, Jim, Jamie, Shane, Mom and Paula. The food was so yummy! The kids, though, were anxious to finish eating and start the Egg Hunt. Our precious Aunt Poos had stuffed what seemed like hundreds of eggs and hid them all around Oma's house. Kason was especially anxious to find the golden egg so he could win the huge chocolate bunny! So after we finished lunch, off they went!!
There were so many eggs!!! Kason basket couldn't even hold them all! We all thought Kason did a good job of sharing with Katie and allowing her to get lots of eggs too.
After all the eggs were found, we all had to look at the loot!
Kason was absolutely thrilled to have found the golden egg and win the giant chocolate bunny! (Thanks Poos!!!)
This next picture of Katie totally cracks me up. She was totally in sugar stupor at this point!!! :)
After the egg hunt, Katie was happy to pose for a picture.
And so was Kason. Now it was time for him to open his birthday gifts. He got so much cool stuff!!! Luggage from Nona, Clothes and college fund money from Oma, an alarm clock from Jamie and Shane (Kason had been wanting one forever!) and a PSP game from Poos. And then the biggest surprise, a PSP game system from Uncle Rob!!!! Kason was so excited!!

Jump Rope/Hoops for Hearts
On Saturday, March 27th, Kason took part in the Hoops for Hearts event at his school. Many of you contributed to this fundraiser, and thanks to all of you, Kason was able to raise $325!!! He was so excited about this event. The kids all worked hard during P.E. practicing their jump roping and basketball skills. Kason did great! He won the jump rope endurance challenge and was one of two "last men standing". He won a red tinsel wig for this accomplishment! As you can see from the video, he loved the wig! (On a side note, I am still trying to figure out our new video camera. I haven't learned how to edit movies properly. So it just kind of randomly edits them for me).
In addition to jump roping, the kids also had basketball competitions. Kason was the 'last man standing' in 2 of the competitions and won them both. Wow! Great job, Kason!

It was a great event for a great cause. Kason even learned about kids and adults with heart conditions and how important it is to keep your heart healthy. Thanks to all of you who donated. Hope you enjoy the video!

Spring Photo Shoot
Just in case I don't take enough pictures of the kids, I decided to have their pictures taken professionally last month. Spring pictures! Even though it was a chilly March morning that day, we braved the chill and went to Frisco to meet our favorite photographer, Heather Flores. We have done several shoots with Heather, the most recent being our Christmas pictures. She does a great job, is reasonably priced and is also our neighbor!
Of course, 2 days before the shoot, Katie fell into a tree (don't ask! :) and scratched up her cheek. We decided she was not scarred enough to cancel the pics, but you may notice her cheeks looking a little pinker than normal. The good news is I have given up on trying to get the perfect picture. It will make you crazy! We just aim for the best we can do on that day. I think these turned out pretty well.
The first one is my favorite:
I like this next one cause it looks like they might even love each other! :)
Kason, who is our poser as you will see in the below pics, gave us his best hands-on-hips pose in this one, and Katie followed suit:
Katie was not so sure about smiling. She is definately not the Ham that Kason is. Still precious though! I love my sweet girl!!!

She was coming around with the smile for this one:
Kason has no problem at all posing. A few days before the shoot he and I were watching American Idol. This was the first of the Top 24 shows, when they were doing photo shoots of all the contestants. The contestants were all posing with their arms crossed or jumping up in the air. Kason loved it! So that is what he is imitating in several of the below photos:
