Thanksgiving 2012

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!  I started this blog post the day after turkey day, but obviously didn't finish it.  I start a new job this week, so one of my goals is to get this posted before I start.  :)

We had a great Thanksgiving filled with food, family and friends.  As we normally do, we went to Aunt Nina's house in Farmersville.  Nina goes all out for Thanksgiving - she has THE BEST food!!!!  It is so yummy and I always eat too much.  This year was no different.  We all ate and then went outside to hang in the backyard and watch the guys and kids play some football.  Kason looks forward to this day all year because he LOVES playing football with the big kids.  :)  Katie even joined in the fun this year.

Here's a pic of Josh tossing the ball to KB.
Aubrey Grace is just the cutest thing you have ever seen.  She loves her daddy!!!  She wasn't sure what to think about Granddad, though.  :)
I love this next pic.  It just about sums up my kids.  Kason running his heart out and KB cheering him on.
JD plays so well with the kids.  He is so patient and makes sure they each get equal turns.  Here's Jimmy and Kason waiting for their turn.

This pic cracks me up.  Josh is all up in Kason's business and Kason is doing his best to get around him.

KB taking a break from the action.

My sweet boy.

Daddy's girl

Isn't AG the cutest thing?!?!

Katie loves to love on her cousin.

We have so much to be thankful for!

Flag Football Champions!

Kason's flag football team won their championship game Tuesday night!  They had such a great season and it was so fun watching them play!  Here's a pic of the team after their big win.

Kason had a big cheering section at the game.  Our friends, the Rackleys, all made it to the game.  Kason made a great catch for the PAT after a touchdown.  He played so well all year.  Kason's teacher, Mrs. Newman also came to watch the boys play.  Here's a pic of Kason, his friend Ben and Mrs. Newman.
Here are some pics of the fam after the game.  Kason got this really cool trophy that he is so proud of!  Another trophy to add to his shelf!  :)

My sweet boy.  Way to go Bobcats!!

Halloween 2012

I know, I know...It has been FOREVER since I have blogged!  And I don't even have an "I've been busy" excuse.  Just haven't gotten my blog butt in gear.  But I HAVE to post a Halloween blog.  I have blogged about Halloween since I have started this thing so I can't stop now!  (BTW, if you haven't looked at my Halloween blogs from previous years recently, you really should do that.  It is so fun to look back at how the kids have grown!  If I could figure out how to include a link to the old blogs in this one I would, but I'm not that technical I guess).

Before we get to Halloween night, I have to share some pics of Katie when we carved the pumpkin.  I couldn't get Kason interested in it this year, so it was just KB and I.  (Really?!?  He's only in 4th grade - is he already "too cool" to do fun stuff like carve a pumpkin?!?!)
Here is the before pic:

And here's the after pic.  Look at these 2 silly faces!!  :)

The Saturday before Halloween we were invited to a family Halloween party at one of our friends' house.  Here's a pic of the kids dressed up at the party.
Later that same night, I went to an adults only Halloween party.  GD had to work so he couldn't go.  But I had a great time hanging with friends.  If anyone watches the TV show Sons of Anarchy, then you will know the pic below is Tara, Gemma and Clay.  I'm sure most people don't know that show.  If that's the case, I'm a nurse with a dark wig.  :)

Here's the kids all ready for school Halloween day.  They were so excited!  Kason is Thor and KB is Minnie Mouse.  When I told Kason to do something while he was wearing his costume he said, "Mom, Thor is like 30.  He doesn't have to listen to his Mom".  Its a good thing he had a smile on his face when he said that or I would have had to bend Thor over my knee!!  :)

Here's a pic of Katie with her teacher, Mrs. Pease.  They had a fun Halloween parade and party at school.
The below pics are from Halloween night.  Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without our good friends the Brackeens!  If you have looked back at old Halloween blogs, you will know that we always go trick-or-treating with the Brackeens. It is total chaos but so fun!  We eat chili and hot dogs then head out for TONS of candy!  Here is a pic of the kids before the T-o-Ting began:
Here's Susanne and GD with his crazy hair hat!
Susanne teases me about the annual "butt pic" that I always take.  This year is no exception.
Adelie and Katie had so much fun trick or treating!
Mom stayed at our house to hand out candy.  Katie looks excited to be done with trick or treating, doesn't she?!  :)
The last pic of the night - kids are in a candy stupor!!!
Hope everyone had a great Halloween!

Summer 2012 Highlights

What an eventful and busy summer we had!  I thought I would share some pictures from at least part of our summer.  It seems to have flown by so quickly!  The kids are back in school now and hopefully the weather will start cooling off soon!!

Back in July we traveled to Oklahoma for Aubrey Grace's birthday.  AG is the kids only cousin and this is her very 1st birthday, so it was a very special day!  We had a great time with family and were showered with hospitality and lots of good food!!  Miss AG got lots of fun presents and of course ate lots of cake!  Here is a pic of the kids with AG before the cake!

After being laid off in July, I had lots of time at home with the kids for the last half of the summer.  It was a big transition for all of us.  Kason loved the summer daycare that he was in when I was working. They went on lots of fun field trips and got to play all day long.  Here is a picture of Kason and Trey, one of his buddies from daycare on his last day at daycare.

One of our weekend summer excursions took us to Grapevine Mills Mall.  We had lots of fun buying school clothes and took a break to ride the carousel.

At the end of July, Kason went to Mavs Basketball camp.  While he was there, KB and I met Jamie and baby R for lunch.  It was a great visit and so good to get the kids together.  R is such a happy, beautiful, precious baby!  Our family has definitely been blessed with pretty babies!  :)
This was Kason's second year at Mavs Camp.  He loves it so much!  They really do a great job of organizing the camp.  He learns so much every year.  Basketball is his favorite sport - it is fun to see him in his element!
This year at Mavs camp, there was a special surprise --  DIRK WAS THERE!!!  He stopped by to visit with the kids and shoot some hoops.  What an exciting day!!!
One day, KB's friend Gabriella came over to play.  Katie and Gabriella had a great day playing dress up and doing other fun girl stuff.  As you can see below, even Tucker joined in on the fun!  :)
In late July, we went with our good friends the Rackleys to spend some time on Lake Travis outside Austin.  We rented a house with a pool and enjoyed 4 days of fun in the sun!  We rented a boat and jet ski one day.  We had the lake almost all to ourselves!  It was a great mini-vacation with great friends!

Towards the end of the summer, KB went to cheer camp.  She had lots of fun learning Bobcat cheers and playing with her friends.  Here is a pic of KB and her friend with Bobcat Bennie!
It was a fun summer!  Now we are looking forward to a great fall!

Kason's 9th Birthday

OK, so I actually started this blog almost 3 months ago and am just now posting it....  I am such a slacker!  :)

Can you believe my baby is 9!?!?  I certainly cannot.  Just thinking about double digits next year makes me tear up!  He is growing so fast!  But I am so proud of the young man he is becoming.  He is kind, generous, considerate and smart.  He loves hanging with his friends and all his teachers tell me how they love him.  They say he is so funny and has lots of friends.  That's my boy!

Of course, Kason wanted a basketball cake.  :)  We took it, along with Kason and 7 of his closest friends to Going Bonkers for his birthday party.  Going Bonkers is like a McDonald's playland on steroids.  The boys had so much fun!

Here they all are playing in the tunnels at Going Bonkers:

Joel cracks us up!

Eating pizza and cake:

Right after this picture was taken Kobe smashed Kason's face into his piece of cake.  Thank God he didn't smash it in the whole cake!  BOYS!!!!!

Kason was in such a good mood he even let KB hug him.  :)

The next day we had a family and close friends party with yet another cake!  :)

Happy Birthday Kason.  We love you SOOOO much!
