1st Science Project

At the end of April, a notice went home with all the 1st graders that a Science Project was due on May 14th. The note said that you had to collect 10 different bugs, then display them in some way (be creative, it said!) and label the bugs. So for 2 weeks we were on the lookout for bugs. Gary Don found several at work. And Kason found some in the backyard. We finally had all our bugs. Now we just needed an idea for how to display them. Gary Don came up with the idea of a bug zapper. Both Kason and I thought it was a great idea. We bought posterboard, construction paper and crazy glue and got to work. It was a group effort! I drew the bug zapper. Kason wrote and glued the labels. Here is Kason as he wrote the labels:
Dad got the task of gluing the bugs on the posterboard. I was not gonna touch that! :) Katie and I stayed way back for that.
Here is the finished project. Kason was so proud!

First Science project accomplished! :)

Mother's Day Weekend

Ahh, Mother's Day..... Ideally, as mothers, I think when most of us think about Mother's Day we think about breakfast in bed, flowers and well-behaved kids holding hands and all dressed up for church. Then reality hits. Ha! A mother's job doesn't stop even for one day, no matter how special our family tries to make it. So my Mother's Day was a normal hectic day, but mixed in with moments of real love and appreciation. Really, what more can I ask for? I am one blessed Momma!! My very thoughtful and wonderful husband got me a gift certificate for a 90 (count them 90!!!) minute massage!! I cannot wait to use it!! And both my Honey and the kids got me very special cards. Kason made this card at school and I just love it:
On the Saturday before Mother's Day the 4 of us met Mom and Paula at Texas Roadhouse in McKinney (or as Kason would call it, "The Peanut Place" :) for a Mother's Day meal. We had yummy food and tried our best to eat and visit while keeping Katie Blair entertained and as still as possible. She is all over the place and is not the easiest person to eat out with! But we made it work and it was nice to have everyone together. Thank you Blair for paying for our meal!! Here are some pics from our get-together.
