How do you say "Cary" in French? :)
A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from my aunt?cousin? Cary DuParc saying that she and her neice (her brother's daughter), Sabrina would be at DFW airport for an hour and a half layover on their way to L.A. Cary DuParc is my dad's mom's sister's daughter. Which would make her my dad's 1st cousin. So that means she is my 2nd cousin? Not sure, but I call her Aunt Cary anyway. Aunt Cary lives in France, as does Sabrina. I have met Aunt Cary before, but it was a long time ago. Probably when I was in high school. I had never met Sabrina. So I really wanted to be able to see them during their layover since they would be so close. I managed to get off work early and make it to the airport. I walked all over Terminal D and could not find them. I texted the phone number that Aunt Cary had given me. No response. After about an hour of waiting, I gave up and headed back to the parking garage. I knew they had to make their connecting flight and figured I had missed them. But on the way to the garage my cell phone rang. It was someone from the airport telling me where I could find my aunt. I turned around and headed back to the terminal. And there they were!!! I was so excited to see them! Both Aunt Cary and Sabrina are beautiful! And tall!! How did I miss that gene?!? :) I recognized Aunt Cary right away. They both walked up to me and hugged my neck. We talked for just a short time, and the whole time Sabrina was just staring at me. She finally said, "I can't believe how much you look like Lucy!! It is amazing how much you look like her!" Lucy is Aunt Cary's daughter, whom I have never met (but aparently she is beautiful...:) We only had time for a very short conversation because they had to make their connecting flight. But we did manage to snap a couple of pictures.
Aren't they pretty?!? That is Aunt Cary on the left and Sabrina on the right. Here is another one:
Can you see any resemblence? :) I hated that we it was such a short visit (probably 10 minutes in total), but it was so great to connect with them and see relatives that live an ocean away. Aunt Cary invited GD and I to come visit her in France. She said all we had to do was pay for the airfare, and she would take care of us once we got there. Now, that sounds like an offer we can't refuse!! Hopefully sometime in the near future we will be able to take her up on it!
